Morning all,

I have a swann 8580 nvr with x6 NHD-885MSB cameras. Can i use these cameras with a different brand of NVR?
I have read that some NVR's have the option of an alarm input so the CCTV cameras can send you a snapshot when the house alarm is triggered however the swann 8580 doesnt seem to support this.
It was an expensive system so dont really want to replace the whole lot but id be willing to replace the NVR if it will work.

Thanks

Swann expensive?

All depends if the NVR supports the camera protocol and or if you can change it to ONVIF if it doesn't.

So you need to find the protocol the cameras use, and if its not one the new NVR supports if the cameras support ONVIF, and what version of ONVIF and if that's supported on the new NVR.

I also notice these cameras have PIR sensors to record when triggered so not sure if they can be triggered by your NVR, don't use Swann cameras.

Sorry for the late response the cctv cameras took a bit of a back burner.

The system cost me about £1100 with 6 cameras.

I do need an additional camera. Say i replaced the whole system would you recommend if not swann?

I would like 4k resolution with motion detection.
10 channel.
POE.
A system that has small poe cameras would be good for internal use, or failing that something that accepts both poe and wireless if that even exists lol.
The alarm input would be a nice touch, but i also like things on the swann app such as the ability to black out areas of the recording, set motion detection zones (so it doesnt sense motion from the road out the front but will if someone comes on my drive), and the ability to detect a person etc.
A decent app would be good too as the swann app is terrible.

Thanks
