Hi

My partner is fitting a new sink but there isn't enough room for the whole 'S' bend to fit to the waste pipe. Can he use just the 'U' bend instead? Hope this makes sense.
Cheers

Not really. Try a 40mm bottle trap or rework the waste pipe slightly. Or buy a flexible connector to connet trap and waste together. To use only part of the trap will meam no seal and smells coming back.

can't you use a normal p-trap, which is similar to just a u bend but with an outlet readyt o connect to a waste pipe! bottle traps on sinks and not a good idea as they easily get clogged up with scraps of food !!

Agreed but they are easier to clean (bottom half unscrews) trouble is without seeing actual site of problem we can only suggest.

He has fitted something (not sure what) but seems to have done the trick.
Thanks for all your help and suggestions. :-)
