Hi, I rent a property where two years ago all the taps were replaced. I have now been told that the bathroom taps need replacing again because back nuts have seized. I am not happy I am paying out again after only two years, when taps are replaced are the back nuts replaced too? Do I need to suck this up or not is my question.

Thanks in advance

The backnuts are out of sight and hold the taps in place. If they are seized then that just means it would be difficult to remove the taps should they need replacing. Why would sized backnuts mean the taps need to be replaced ? Who told you this ?

Hi I just looked back and the agencies plumber originally went round to fix the taps, it just stated 'bathroom tap issues'. He said he can't fix them as the backnuts have seized and the taps now need to be replaced.

It doesn't make any sense....you have to remove the backnuts in order to replace the taps....is he saying the whole basins got to be replaced? Sometimes it's possible to replace just the tap valves inserts or cartridges.

Glad I asked now, you are right it doesn't make sense. I am going to clarify with the agency exactly what the problem is. Thanks I may be back for more advice ....

I do a lot of work for landlords and estate agents. I always provide pictures of what needs to be done. If you are local then go to the property and take some pictures of the taps and under the taps/bath if possible.

Or ask the agent for pictures for what needs to be done.
