Can you save restore points?

MS restore points are deleted in reverse order.

Is it possible to ring fence selected restore points, allowing others to be over written instead?

Restore points rely on previous ones for their operation. I don't believe that what you want to do is possible.

I thought they were back ups of the registry etc rather than inremental back ups.

I'm not an expert on the underlying technology, so I wouldn't suggest that they are incremental in the same manner as incremental backups; but they are linked in some fashion.

Others here may be able to elaborate.

Edit. The only thing I could find is this. No explanation, but the term "threaded" rather than my "linked" is used. Seems to confirm what I have said though.
