After being compressed, will wool insulation spring back correctly, or must it be replaced?
The background to this is that I hired the local joiners to put floorboards down in my loft. I asked them to use battens because the insulation was above the level of the joists.
This proved to be a big mistake; they did a terrible job, with uneven flooring, screws with gaps between the boards and the joists, and didn't put a single batten down.
I'm now worried because the wool insulation has been compressed to about half the thickness it should be, which will ruin its insulating properties.
I've seen plenty of posts saying that you shouldn't compress the insulation, but none dealing with what to do to fix it.
Thanks for any help,
Robert J Lee.
