We've bought a 100 year old cottage, and it has no insulation at all.
We were thiking of laying 100 mm sheeps wool insulation between the ceiling joists, then boarding for storage. Then laying another 75 mm between the rafters, then paster boarding.
Will 2 layers like that work OK?
Will 175 mm of sheeps wool insulation be OK?
The roof is slates, then has a kind of white cement/plaster between the battens which the slates are connected too. There appears to be no leaks. Can we put the sheeps wool straight onto this?
If not, Is there a material we can pin up on the inside? Looking for a cheap but thin and effective solution to the insulation and like the greeness of the wool.
Do we just push the sheeps wool under cabling, and cut gaps where the cables go down the lights of the first floor?
Cheers
Iain
