Cannon Stratford Gas Cooker, oven staying up full!

Hi everyone, this is my very first post so go easy with me if I have the wrong forum...

I have a Cannon Stratford Gas Cooker. The problem is, is that the oven rotary temperature control no longer seems to work. The oven flame is fully on and not turning down when I turn the oven temperature control.

Any ideas?

Turn the oven on to FULL setting and leave it on for 10 minutes with door shut. Then turn the knob down to the low setting. If the burner flame does not reduce, the the thermostat is at fault and will require replacement. Not a DIY job, but a job for a RGI.
