I have a Polystel unvented hot tank (ancient, but working OK!) and I had to replace the immersion heater thermostat. To do this you have to remove the expansion tank and the tee that connects it to the cold feed.

Unfortunately I managed to damage the tee. I unsoldered the connectors and tried to remake it with a push-fit 15-15-15 tee, but the fitting to the expansion tank seeps. Probably because of the formerly-soldered pipe not being "flat" enough to seal on the o-ring (I cleaned it up as much as I could!).

So what I need is a new fitting to connect the expansion tank (seems to be 5/8" tap fitting to 15mm pipe) but it seems nobody makes them! (At least my local plumbing supplier things so).

The only 5/8" tap fittings I can find are designed for garden taps, so have a Hozelok-style fitting!

Any ideas?

Cheers, Howard

Are you looking for 5/8 female iron to copper ?
You can buy a 5/8 x 1/2 unequal union and from the 1/2 you can get down to 15mm copper.

Is the nearest I could find. Or rather, the only thing thats female 5/8 BSP.
Thanks for that - I'm not sure if there's room to fit this in and then adapt down to 15mm, but I suppose I could remote-mount the expansion vessel and use a braided flexible pipe to connect it.

What's stopping you soldering a new Tee in? Why are you resorting to push-fit?
There's very little space and the measurements of the three arms of the tee are critical - fixed items in all directions. I didn't think I'd be able to make it accurately enough by soldering. Using push fit means I have a bit of leeway, as the pipes don't have to be pushed all the way into the sockets (there's enough space past the gripping-ring to leave it a few mm short if necessary).

Cheers,
Howard
