Hi I am trying to remove this bottom hinge on my front composite door, I am told its faulty since when adjustments are made to it they don't hold and needs replacing.

I have removed the 4 screws with a right angle screw driver, popped it out of the slight recess bit on the door so its loose. And then removed the middle tiny silver grub screw and tried to hammer a screw driver to remove the hinge pin from underneath but its not coming out at all, its like its solid and locked tight inside. I don't mind destroying the faulty hinge since its faulty and have 2 replacement ones also and their £10 each.

I am limited in space since no space behind the door since a wall is there so am trying to do this with the door closed or partly open without luck, any ideas why its so lock tight that hinge pin?

Usually there is a hinge pin holding screw. You'll see one in the centre of that new hinge.

The tiny grub silver screw? yeah I removed that one completely but the pin is still stuck. I also tried a hammer and screw driver to bang it out but its very strong like 3 men are holding that hinge pin in its place.

Once the grub screw is out the pin should knock upwards or with some long noses pliers try and pull it up, you have been trying upwards not down?

Yup tried with some nose pliers on the hinge pin, also pulling upwards. Also made sure no nuts on the underneath blocking it from tapping up from underneath.

It feels like the hinge pin is clamped down or held in place by an elephant. I am wondering if its the weight of the composite door putting force and weight on the hinge pin.

It's probably the door dropping sideways that is jamming it, sometimes you can use an allen key by tilting the key backwards while turning side to side and pulling up all at the same time

thanks it was a good idea, tried it but its not budging or moving at all. I can see the hinge pin is pushed to the far left hand side, the other 2 are in the middle so id guess that is managing the weight of the door properly and equally just not bottom hinge.

I am starting to think its not the hinge but a bad door installation, it probably needs to be removed and pushed back in and done properly.

When knocking upwards are you sure your hitting the pin and not the surrounding aluminium hinge? The 2 hex bolts, turn them so the pin moves to the centre and knocking up try again
