Language and culture. Yet what matters are non tariff barriers ie regulations and stamdards.

There was a brilliant book written how because of the EU size they have been leading on standard settings and regulation where the rest of the world ends up following. The USA was too open to lobbying and vested interests which changed too often.

Yet for us to sell into the EU we will still need to meet their requirements.

Also even more repressive nations than the UK (so far)...

And can you tell us what these nations have that the UK doesn't?

Here's a hint - natural resources!

Brexiteers didn't think about that one did they!

Do you mean Canada who's next door to the Biggest economy in the world?
Do you mean Australia who supplys Asia?
Do you mean New Zealand who has access to as many Ice cubes you could ever want?

Name me all the separate economies that are bigger than Australia or Canada

Look up Rio Tinto and BHP Billington. You will find both are part British owned.

So UK trade (both import and export) with all 54 commonwealth countries - yes that includes Canada, NZ, Australia, India was about the same as its total trade with Germany.

Some people just live in make believe land. Years of reading the Sun and DM. :ROFLMAO:

They are partly registered holding companies in London, soon to be relocated to the EU...

And where have the real profits gone to?

Oh, I'll help you out there...

In 2019, the Rio Tinto Group paid $7.6 billion in taxes and royalties globally, including $6.2 billion paid in Australia.

The United Kingdom got $117 million...

But could you tell us where the actual resources are found?
Oh that's right, not in the UK!

And as for Billiton, it's actually registered in the British Virgin Islands...

So guess how much revenue the UK got from that

If you want to make a point it's best to check the facts first :)

BHP is a dual-listed company; the Australian BHP Billiton Limited and the British BHP Billiton plc are separately listed with separate shareholder bodies, while conducting business as one operation with identical boards of directors and a single management structure.
