Hi i am trying to change a washer on mixer taps but i cannot work out how to get the caps off.

Tried a blade but i don`t want to ruin the caps by breaking them.

There is very little room to get a blade in etc and i cannot see any other way of getting to the screw underneath

Any ideas please, thanks in advance

1. There is clearly a join where the top cap meets the body of the handle. Unlikely to be there if not required to remove top cap.
2. Could be push fit, could be screwed in. Try pushing down hard with a pencil eraser and turning. May give you a clue as to which.
3. Just possible that the cap doesn't need to come off. Try unscrewing the shroud, the round chrome piece just below the handle. Some Vado brand taps use this method.

Have you looked for a grub screw?
