I had a cap operated spud gun too :D
The smell of caps is up there with Castrol "R"

I had one of those too. A chrome plated "Derringer" look alike. Came from Woolworths IIRC.
You could pile more caps in to get better range. :)

Strap on a pair you guys!

I can remember them like yesterday, so how come no one here has recalled the little rocket doobrie? :?

You placed a cap, or two, underneath a spring loaded ‘hammer and anvil’ of sorts which you threw in the air and it went bang when it landed. The spring was just to hold them in place; very simple design. Cheap and cheerful, they had plastic flights. The one I had was in red. :)

Also, for the old fogies here, did anyone not do that thing whereby you held one end of a short strip of them in one hand and, (you had to have finger nails), you held them between your finger and thumb on your other hand and filmly and quickly dragged your thumb nail over them. You might get a couple or so to bang as you pulled.

I think I deserve an e-respek for this :D

Well if you read back a few posts you might find that I mentioned them some time ago!

It's OK. No apology necessary. I'm sure, like me, your age is beginning to tell.

Really? I sped-read through and didn't notice. Maybe my description was better than yours JBR

:D

Er, just saw it mate. You say bomb I say rocket, but yes you did mention it first

And I mentioned it as well! :P

What you call a trolley we called a 'Steerie'. Few planks of wood, set of wheels off a pram, (preferably Silver Cross as they had a large pair for the back and a small pair for the front), bit of string to steer it with and a set of Blakey studs in your shoes for brakes!

Ok Conny, don't rub it in! :)

So I can still claim the rubbing along a strip with your thunb nail thing then...?

:D

You're both wrong. They're called go-karts. :D

I once made a fantastic one - really solidly built. The pram wheels cost me a shilling from the local rag and bone man.
