Car Radio: Anyone ever seen this before?

Just turned the car on and there was a strange purple circle on the car radio! No change in texture. Not there once the radio is turned off.

Any ideas?

The pixels on the screen have gone, judging by the shape as others have said most likely caused by impact damage.
