i am ready to have a carpet fitted in the lounge but are fitting new gripper rods to a concrete floor...the previous gripper rods have left little craters in the floor where they have smashed the fixing pins in! + they was pretty loose...i am thinking of plugging & screwing the new rods to the floor with yellow rawlplugs & small screws..so as to get a better more solid fit to the floor thus holding the carpet in place better surely...anything wrong with this carpetfitters cheers :)

You can if you like but it will be slow and noisy.

Usual alternative to the masonry nails is gripfil or similar, cut the gripper into short lengths first and fix a couple of days before the carpet is fitted.

Why cut into short lengths?

It's easier to glue, especially if the floor is a little uneven, the gripper is less likely to lift.
