Hi

Im looking to put carpet on an asphalt floor which previously had ceramic tiles on it. This ashphalt floor backs on to the living room so Im looking to put carpet throughout. I've packed up the living room floor using half inch wbp ply to bring the level up.

Do I need to put hardboard on the asphalt floor before carpetting or would using a good quality underfelt be ok

Many thanks

hi, as long as the two floor levels are the same then you will be ok, as for underlay use a minimum thickness of 7mm , 9mm is about the best all rounder, if you go for the thicker 11mm you will need to use long pin gripper
