carpet on concrete floor

Taken up laminate flooring in house, it's a ground floor room.
It has a polythene vapour sheet on top of the concrete. (correct for laminate) As with be underlay and carpet going down .. does this need vapour barrier or not ? Found one post that said no ... carpet is breathable so not needed.
Unfortunately post was on a US site so may not be valid in UK.
Long time since I have had any carpets so wanted to check.
 
You shouldn't need polythene, just check when removing there are no obvious signs on damp.
