Due to the noise problem I'm causing for flat below, I bought some cheap carpet and laid it on my laminate hallway. I'm now gonna put the best underlay I could buy underneath.

Do I cut underlay to the exact size of carpet or slightly smaller?

Best way to stick it (temporarily)? Doubled sided tape?

It's cut short of the gripper rods. Over wood floor a few staples will keep it in place.

No gripper rods just carpet temporarily put on laminate until I buy rugs. I'll cut it a bit short anyway.

Do u mean staple carpet and underlay to laminate ?

Yeah temporary thing so just put underlay and carpet ontop of laminate. Probably put nice rug on top if this works and chuck out the carpet keep underlay for rug
