Cast Iron Fireplace Paint/Polish Problem

Hi

I am looking for some advice about a black cast iron fireplace. The chimney sweep came round taped the sides and top of the fireplace while he did the job. When he removed the tape the paint/polish came off. He came back with a spray can and sprayed the uncovered bits. He used a mat finish and has sprayed in quite liberally. It looks like the fireplace has been graffitied.

I want to get the fireplace back to its polished finish. What is the best way to repair the damage and get it looking like it used to? I have done some research and grate polish seems to be the best option. I just want to check before proceeding. [/img]

I don't know, but if he damaged it I'd expect him to fix it.
