I have a client who's house froze up during the cold spell here and her radiators have popped.
As some of them were quite old and nice we're wondering if its possible to take them apart to remove the broken segments and then reassemble.

Does anyone have any views on this or experience of doing it?

Oxy-aceteylene torch to warm things up, the sections are screwed together using left hand & Right hand thereaded bushes, and will be an absolute nightmare to get apart!! it would be far easier to buy some nice new retro style rads to be honest!!
I used to work for a large M&E company a few years ago we spent about two weeks stripping and re-building 4 column radiators! :!:

Thanks, we'll need to decide which ones are worth spending time on then.
Ten of them broke and theres a couple that are quite old and nice.
Worth a try at least.

I assume the sections are cracked.

Piece of cake with the right kit and a lot of know how.

Unfortunately it's the last bit that could be the problem.

You'll need some heat on the bushes/fittings, but not on the sections.

Some pics would be good.
