Can anyone tell me how a CBR 300 unit made by Saver Systems UK works or what it is supposed to do ? I have just serviced a Powrmatic IR8 oil boiler which has one of these control box's attached. It has a dial from 1-10 ,an on/off switch and three LED's (2 red , 1 green) signaling request,economy and burn. It is wired into the supply to the burner.Turning the dial seemed to do nothing and i had to set the switch to off to get the boiler to fire. If it is supposed to give greater economy, how does it do this ?All other controls i.e. stats,burner,pump,etc seem to work fine but the owner is concerned that the unit may need replacing despite the heating working normally with the box switched off.All info greatly appreciated in advance.

have come across similar things in pubs never went into how they worked tho
if memory serves they are supposed to cut gas consumption
get the impression they have weather compensation
but TBH i could be barking up the wrong tree
