I’m looking to fit a ceiling fan which comes with an integrated light. The integrated fan/light unit is controlled by a remote control.

I’d be fitting this in place of an existing light which is controlled by a single pole switch.

Since the fan and light would be operated by the remote control, would the existing wall mounted light switch just act as an on/off for the power supply to the new unit?

I wanted to check this and find out if it would be a straight swap in terms of wiring for the new unit?

Heres a link to the unit in question

Yes as long as you've got a functioning earth at the existing light (there's no mention of whether it is Class 2 so assume it is Class 1 especially with all that metalwork on it) and the ceiling will take the weight
