Hello All,

I'm just about to put the ceilings back up in my house throughout the first floor. I'm trying to work out what the best and most economic way to reduce sound between the ground and first floor.

These are the 3 options as I see it.

1* Standard 12.5mm plasterboard and hope carpets above provide enough = £1.60pm

2* Double up on the 12.5mm board for an inch = £3.20pm

3* Wickes sound sheild board 12.5mm = £3.20pm

4* Go for rockwall sound insulation = Very expensive

I'm thinking an inch of board plus carpets upstairs would provide quite a lot of insulation?

Thanks in advance.

Option 1 has been accepted by most of the UK without problem, unless you keep baby elephants.?

Went for an inch of plasterboard in the end.

30 boards all in all. May sound like a bit of an over kill but I'm hoping it will cut the sound down.

Thanks guys
