Ceiling joists question

Aah. Is this private building control? Most BCOs have their little hobbyhorses (one up here was called 2 metre Pete- you tried very hard not to get him to check your foundation trench cos guess what ..) . Unless there's a significant extra load going on those lintels (check with SE) and they're in good condition (pic looks fine) then leave them alone.
The ceiling joists- if the dormer floor above is being supported by the steels etc. then those joists are only subject to ceiling loads (tiny) and pretty much out of scope for building control (on that span 2 x 2 would do, 3 x 2 would be less likely to go baggy with age)

What is the span of the ceiling? Measure it and check one of the online joist span tables. If binders and purlin hangers have been removed as part of the conversion the joists could now be considerably undersized. If they can "hang" them off the new floor joists with timbers at mid span they will be ok, otherwise you may have problems with your ceiling finish.
