Hey all,
I need to get the ceiling of my bathroom re-done. It's currently got a nasty (but good condition) wooden decking style ceiling and i want it boarding and skimming by a plasterer. Do you know whether he'd be happy to fix the board to the wood and skim over or whether i have to rip the wood down so he can fix the plasterboard straight to the joists??

Also - when joiing plasterboard to tiled walls. What is the normal convention? I.e do i need coving or beading or can they just butt up?

Thanks in advance.

You can get a tidy join tiling hard up to the ceiling.

Your plasterer will advice you on the way forward regarding the lining but shouldnt be a problem imo.

Honestly!! i've plasterboarded and skimmed over quite a few wooden lined ceilings/walls without any problems at all. I wouldn't hesitate. The joists will be easy to locate so no problem.
