Simon did another story in the New European standing by the Times story, I know him well and texted him last night congratulating him on the scoop, he didn't enlighten me on any facts but I should be seeing him on Sunday as he's down this part of the world visiting family so I'll see what I can find out. He's the bloke who broke the wallpaper story, he doesn't get stuff like that wrong. I thought he's retired in January after leaving The Mail but I'm pleased to see him keeping his hand in.
My guess is somebody very high up has strong armed the editor, but that is just a guess.

Spent the afternoon and evening with Simon, the author of the story, the horses mouth, today. He played (he has always been in bands) at The Polgooth Inn, doing guitar and keyboards while his grand daughter sang, she has a lovely voice, did some Amy Winehouse, Coldplay etc, it was her first ever paid gig, a hundred and forty quid, Simon didn't take his half and we threw in twenty quid to buy something for the baby.
Anyway, he was shocked at the story being pulled, it wasn't an injunction, it was direct pressure from No.10.
He feels the story itself wasn't the main problem, far worse has been printed without that sort of reaction, he suspects that the reason for the story being so concerning is that it would lead to more scrutiny of the 'Boris and Carrie being caught in a compromising position' story, apparently a blowjob was involved.
I queried the fact that Guido Fawkes hadn't commented, apparently it's possible he's one of Carrie's sock puppets.
Expect another story to appear in the next week or two, it involves Charities, Carrie and money.
