central heating banging

I have a two pipe open vented system and every now and then the pipes realy start banging loudly as if they are whipping around under the floorboards. I have noticed that the air bleed outlet line is hot after this, am I bleeding steam through? if so how do I stop this?

CHANGE BOILER THERMOSTAT ,AND CHECK PUMP.
