central heating fault with ideal elan rs40

a couple of day ago my heating stopped working, well the heating on its own anyway. now the hot water works but also runs the heating so when water is on so is heating even if heating is set to off on programmer, the room thermostat has no control over the heating either. if i just put the heating on the programmer on its own, it doesn't do anything at all. so basicly turn the water on everythings on. the programmer is a honeywell st699 but it aint nothing to do with that as ive tried a new one.

the heating and water worked as normal before

Faulty motorised valve . Do you have 2 two ports or 1 3 port

pipes going to it are a, b ,ab ? 3way i tink can any1 else confirm ?

seems to have been that. took it off messed about and its working at mo so fingers crossed. thanks

probablely a dodgy micro switch. (dirty/burnt contacts)
