Hi All,

Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to set up my open vented central heating system after replacing a radiator. Prior to draining down the system I put some cleaner in and then inhibitor when I filled it again.

The radiator I replaced has never heated up, it is in a downstairs cloakroom and I presume the last on the line, neither pipes into it get hot. I have just completed a balancing of the system and have now noticed that the small radiator in the upstairs hall near the water tank and pump is not working either, same, no hot water in either pipe. There are 4 upstairs radiators, two heated towel rails, two radiator downstairs and one space saving heater that are all getting hot as expected.

1. Any obvious things I need to be looking for?
2. The pipe going to the expansion tank is hot, is this expected?
3. What does the valve on the pipe exiting the boiler do, I have previously manipulated that and it seems to make some difference.
4. The pump is a Myson Unit Five, does anyone know how to bleed it?
5. When I open the red button on the air vent unit water comes out, is this normal?
6. One of the books mentions putting anti-freeze in the system, is this acceptable?

Apologies for the amount of questions, but I think there will probably be more.

Regards

Gary
