I have just changed the pump on our system and now when the heating comes on it works fine for a couple of hours or so, a typical timed heating session. However if it is swithched to "constant" the system switches itself off. The Rads go cold. The pump is still working and there is loads of hot water. The boiler is an old Glow-worm Fuel Saver. It is what I would term a traditional system with a hot water tank and a header in the loft. The room thermostat and boiler thermostat are on max. I have been making sure the rads are bled. Could it be the diverter valve? Help please with suggestions.

Yes. Find the wee lever on the end of the diverter valve head. It should be in the Auto position. Turn the heating on but NOT the HW. Give it a chance to move.....if you can then feel the lever is pushing against a spring, you need a new motor in the head of the valve. Or a new head, or a new valve.

To get some heat in the rads, turn hw on, latch lever in "man" position, turn cylinder stat UP and boiler stat right DOWN. Boiler will then heat rads as well as trying to heat hot water. Forever - because the boiiler will be set to a lower temp than the hw cyl stat, and you've opened the valve to both destinations.
