... Hello all.

First post here. I wonder if someone can help with a problem I have. I moved into my house 3 months ago, and all has been fine until I removed a rad yesterday to decorate behind it. Left it off the wall all night, and replaced it this morning. Now my heating refuses to work.
I turn on the wall thermostat, and normally the boiler fires up. Nothing this morning. So I pushed the button underneath (a Potterton Netaheat) and it fires up. Lots of banging later, it shuts off.
I have bled all the rads in the house and made sure the valves are all on on the replaced rad.
Any ideas? it's cold here!

Thanks,

Nick

Did you check the F&E cistern was clean before you refilled?

Has sludge and muck been drawn into the system?

Have you vented the pump?

Have you checked the pump is running and not jammed?

Are there vents on the cylinder pipework that need venting?

Are there vents on the boiler flow/return pipework (just above the boiler).

etc

etc

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately none of the above means much to me... I'm a complete newbie with plumbing/heating!

One thing though, just bled my bedroom radiator, and had a massive rushing/gurgling sound and half the rad got hot. So it seems there is some water getting back into the system?

Doesn't mean the system is full though, did air then water come out of the bedroom rad when you bled it?
