Turned the central heating on again after it's summer siesta, and the pump doesn't sound healthy. Kind of whirr...whirrr... whirr... The upstairs radiators get warm after a long wait, and the downstairs not even a hint of warmth.

If i give the pump a bit of a love tap, i hear a whoosh of water go through it. Pipes on either side of the pump are hot, and we still have hot water. The pump body itself is very hot. All the rads have been bled and nothing but water coming out. System was flushed at the end of last year and was fine till turned off over the summer.

This is a conventional boiler with tanks etc.

We are having a combi installed in about 7 weeks, so not sure if its worth getting a new pump or just live with the cold for a few weeks.
