After draining the central heating system about 7 weeks ago the central heating pump is now noisy due to air in the system, info to help diagnosis as follows -
All radiators are working upstairs and down
Bled the radiators regularly but only a small amount of air released.
Bled the pump but no air released many times.
Noisy pump even when it is running just for the hot water, hot water ok
Sometimes it is not so noisy
Definately air in the pump from the sound of the impellor
Boiler is a 20 year old Potterton with storage tank in the airing cupboard (standard old system i think, not sure what you professionals call it) but system very reliable but now noisy and wife is giving me more noise.
Any suggestions as well as gagging the wife!

What is the orientation of the impeller shaft in the pump?
