Hi guys
Can someone help, my standard central heating system not combi, has a red domestic pump by the water tank in the airing cupboard, should the pump be continually running even with the heating side turned of and with water on only.
The pump as a three position switch on the side, where should this switch be in, house is three bed terrace.

Thanks guys :(

If the HW is demanding heat from boiler then yes pump will run, depending on your system, it may pump overrun for a set time either by boiler or remote timer box.

However if there is no demand for more than 15-30 mins and the pump is running, it's a faulty pump overrun or motorised valve.

How many rads is the house running? Speed 2 would be ok on a 3 bed terrace.
