hi guys

so, the plan is(was) to open up old fireplace to fit an old cast iron one in our bedroom, purely for decorational purposes. problem is, is that when I took first few bricks out it turned out that the existing hole is quite a bit right of centre by around 6 inches. the fireplace im wanting to put in is only has a 12inch gap. what i''m wondering is how detrimental is it to remove the bricks further along to centralize it or am I just going to have to accept an off centre fireplace

thanks guys

Depends how the opening is held up, you may be able to move but you need to expose the top to check.A pic would help, fireplace standing beside the location.

if its offset theres a fair chance that the chimney from down stairs is in that space
