I intend laying ceramic tiles on the downstairs toilet floor but on lifting the vinyl floor tiles today, I have found that the chipboard floor underneath is floating on a layer of 1" polystyrene and blue polythene membrane. Underneath this the floor is concrete. The house is a bryant built property from 1997.
Am I right in thinking that I am going to have to take up the chipboard, insulation and blue membrane and either pour further concrete to raise the floor level or batten across the concrete, lay the membrane and polystyrene between them and then fix the chipboard floor securely to the battens before tiling with flexible adhesive and grout? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
