CH ON/OFF CONNECTIONS AT PROGRAMMER:

This is another silly question !! As I look at the Honeywell (standard S plan) wiring diagram I notice there are typically HW on and off connections at the programmer (although off seems to go to spare contact 7 in junction box). But for CH, there's just an on connection? I'm sure there's a simple and logical reason, can anyone please explain ?

you don't need hw off on a s plan only a y plan

That was quick!! Thanks. Presumably why it goes to an unused (no. 7) contact in junction box? Although contact 7 is relevant in S Plan Plus (I'm not familiar with it) which has a 2nd heating valve (2 controllable zones??).

don't matter where you put it in any empty block connector.

Ahhhh - you must be one of those £800 per day plumbers I've heard about, not greedy, and quite content to work a 2 day week to get by!!

My aunt had a new boiler (about £600) installed recently in same position as old although new hole for flue was required. New pipework and fittings were minimal plus a new £30 thermostat. One guy did the job in a day and charged £1500. He knew his stuff and his work was excellent - but I'd wager British Gas would have quoted £2500-3000. This guy is a one-man band but obviously has overheads. I'd pay that for a job well done but it's not a bad living??

Just to clarify.... I meant when I need one for plumbing work. I forgot about plumbers' earthy sense of humour and jokes about plungers and stop-ends!
