chain-cam diesel or not?

How do you know whether its a chain-cam or not? I was told my engine is but I would like to know how to check.

Any I know some of the vauxhalls are GM some are Izuzu and some are Fiat.. does anyone know which ones are in which cars?

try havin a look. itll be either a belt or chain.... youll soon know!
 
Take the rocker cover off and look. Chains are normally inside the head assembly, belts on the outside.
 
Posting the message..I knew someone would say have a look.lol. Well to be honest half my engine bay is covered with plastic and sorts. I haven't been able to buy a hayes manual just yet but im think that'll tell me where to look.

It's a late 2003 1.7 LS ECO.

I used to work for a Vauxhall dealer and left in Sept 2003, at that stage the Fiat engine had not come out.

My guess is it is the Y17DTi engine if soit has a timing belt
