Change Of Valves

Hi Paul and thanks for your input. The toilet only measures 800mm x 1300mm so the heat or lack of it, is not a problem.
What is a problem is "You can't..."! Are you confirming that the whole system will have to be drained or that the radiator cannot be fitted to the existing pipework?:

No drain down required if you can bung the system, ie cover the end of the open vent and block the cold feed outlet in the expansion tank, thus creating a vacuum and the valves can be changed. If all goes to plan you would lose maybe a couple of litres. The centres are 560mm on the rad and if your pipework is 600mm centres then you will have a problem if there is no movement in the pipework.

with a heat output of only 200 watts, it is going to be cold in winter. Even more so when insulated with towels to stop the heat getting out.

What size was the old radiator?

was the room roasting hot last year? Does it have any outside walls?

What size was the old radiator? .... W600mm, H400mm
was the room roasting hot last year? ....No
Does it have any outside walls? ....yes, 1

Sorry for the delay. Car problems.
Anyway, didn't even look at the heat output  and 200w is tiny. A rethink is on the cards.

So it's back to square 1. The exact distance between the open threaded ends of the feed (shown in the pic above) and drain(?) is 560 mm. There is also a 50mm connection with a draining plug which fits on to the threaded end of the feed.
Two questions:
1 Should I be looking for a 500mm or 600mm radiator, and;
2 What would be regarded as a suffient heat output, given that the room only measures 1.4m x 0.8m?

Edit: Using the calculator here:

http://www.theradiatorcompany.co.uk/heatoutput/

the BTU/hr figure worked out at 375-450 and the wattage at 110-132.
Is this a reliable way of calculating requirements?

Can I get a chrome replacement valve cap to replace the plastic one shown in the opening post of this thread?
