Hi - is this a mad idea or might it just work?
I've a valve on one side of my towel rail that turns 1/2 a turn instead of 3 full turns. So with help on the forum I'm guessing it's snapped.
So I'm planning to
-take the pressure the system by draining anywhere.
-close the valve on the other side of the rad
-then rather quickly remove the valve and replace it, using the vacuum in the system and in the rad to prevent/minimize much water getting out.
Swimming pool or success?

I take it the system is a combi? If it is open vented there will be no vacuum effect unless you bung the feed and vent off.

Why not just drain? As a DIYer you're asking for trouble - any snags or hitches and you might get quite wet indeed. And that water probably won't be nice clean water either.
