i want to change a single radiator to a double one. they are both 600mm wide. do i just shut off both ends drain and fit?

The simple answer to your question is yes.

If you are going to do as you suggest rather than drain the system, make sure you have a bucket and cloths handy (and carpet rolled back) or big thumbs to block each end fitting as you lift the full radiator off the wall brackets and away from the valves. (Unless you think you can drain into a shallow tray, but be aware, it can be a messy job)

Fittings need to be screwed into your new radiator to give an overall dimension identical to the one you have removed (or you will need some movement in your pipe work.)

Good luck

Keith
