Hi

Our thermostat seems to have stopped working, so I thought I should change it.

I am a bit unsure on how to wire it up though, can someone tell me in simple terms i.e. red wire to no 1 etc.

This is the original one

This is the instruction for the original

finally the new one with instructions.

Finally which circuit would this be on? Although I do plan to switch them all off to be sure.

Thanks in advance.

Green&yellow to metal terminal - not 100% clear, is that a screw terminal above the blue ones? If not put in a connector block and position safely.

Blue to 4
Yellow to 3
Red to 1

It is not possible to tell which circuit it is on but you should have a switch which turns off the central heating.
If this is near a socket, it will likely be on that circuit.

Turn off the main switch if you are not sure.

Thanks for the reply, I just checked and the existing wiring is from top to bottom.

1 - Red
2 - Yellow
3 - Green
4 - Blue

So, if I understand you correctly, I don't use the Green and fit that to a connector block.

I am unsure from the picture if that object about an inch above the blue connectors is a screw terminal or not.
If it is I would think it the earth terminal.
If it is not then use a connector block for the g/y wire.

Do the instructions mention an earth connection?

Your diagrams tell you in simple terms.

You have one of your current thermostat, showing

Line connected to Terminal 1
Load connected to Terminal 2
Earth connected to Terminal 3
Neutral connected to Terminal 4

And you have a diagram for your new thermostat telling you to connect

Line to Terminal 1
Load to Terminal 3
Neutral to Terminal 4

You really, really ought to be able to understand that.

Thanks for the advice, all sorted out now, the thing above the blue box was a light, so I put the earth in a terminal block.

We can be warm again now :)

Good.

Thanks for letting us know.
