Hi,

Small query about doing the above from an amateur.

The switch located in the hall controls one hall light and the kitchen light it's plastic and has two rocker switches.

I was hoping to just be able to swop the wires directly from old to new - but the new switch terminals are labelled differently and obviously don't want to get it wrong.

On the old switch (in the picture MK brand) left to right the top terminals are L1, L2, Common. The bottom ones, Common, L1, L2.

On the new switch (in the picture Crabtree brand) left to right the top terminals are L1, L3, L2. The bottom terminals L3, L2, L1.

Please could you advise how I wire the new switch ?

There is a dividing line to be aware of, the connections are actually swapped top and bottom physically. The dividing line shows which terminals to use for each gang.

Switch direction should be correct if the inscriptions on the switch are to be believed. Essentially the wiring should look exactly the same only flipped top to bottom.

Thank you to everyone - now understand, particularly the significance of the dividing line and having to swap top to bottom for each actual switch.

Thanks again.
