So you want a 2 gang switch, instead of a 3 gang switch.

You have a brown wire going nowhere, it may have broken off from a terminal.

I'm not clear whether you you want to combine two lights onto one switch, or remove a light completely.

That green slime will continue to be a problem, the only cure is to replace the cable(s).

Hey sparkwright ,

Many thanks for your reply 2 gang switch to replace 3 gang switch the brown wire was supplying outside light which is now redundant, consequently
cut, as per photos.
Green goo is more of a concern we had a electrical inspection on 30-10-2020 all passed .. with a recommendation re inspection on oct - 2025 are you saying this
should been deemed at risk during previous inspection ?
Many thanks ...

Remove the short brown bridge wire that goes between the L1 terminals of left and right hand switches.
Then it's a like for like swap
Old switch L1 is new com
Old switch L2 is new L1
Old switch L 3 is new L2.
Is that green stuff present in more than one cable ? If so ,needs replacing .
Turn off ALL mains power before working on the switch ,it may contain live conductors from more than one circuit.
