Lost keys to my deadlock so changed it over. Made sure same size. Had to widen where u put the key otherwise it wouldn't turn properly. Out of interest, how do you fit these or any other lock in a new door?

You cut the relevant sized and positioned holes in the door of course. Drills, chisels and possibly a router with a jig are your friends here.

Get a chippy in, in one of your posts you asked how to sweep up leaves, so what chance do you have of fitting a new mortise lock.

You purchased a different size of lock to the original which is why you had to open up area around keyhole.
