I'm installing a new sink mixer on an unbalanced (mains cold and tank hot) system. Can anyone advise whether I use single or double check valves - in fact in what circumstances would you use single and doubles? Many thanks.

You may have problems with your mixer taps if the supply is unbalanced. :(
May need a pressure reducing valve on your cold or you may get a cheap fix by fitting an isolating valve to your cold supply and turn it down a bit.
See how you get on and post back :)
