Guys, after a problem with my return filter blocking, I have decided to investigate cleaning the system. Is there a recommended cleaner? What is the best way to clean the system, use chemicals and then a complete system drain?

My system is a sealed system and in pretty poor state with lots of black bits clogging everything up. The last rad is part cold at the bottom so assume sludge is present too.

Thanks in advance
Paul.

I suppose you could try flushing it several times first, then, if you’re able, remove each rad separately, take outside and flush out with a hose, shake it up, rinse, repeat until it runs clear. Then you could try some Sentinel or Fernox cleaner in the system. Follow the instructions on the bottle. Flush it out a couple of times then add some inhibitor. Failing that, get someone in to do a powerflush.
