Hello. Could an expert please tell me if it is good practice to keep a chest freezer in a log cabin. 3 years ago our cabin caught light on a very hot July night at 2am causing a very damaging fire. The fire brigade investigated and said it could have been the fridge freezer that caused the blaze as it was a very hot night and the freezer would have been working very hard to keep cool. We have since had our house rewired (by proffesionals) and have put the new cabin on its own circuit with a breaker. We do not have any other space to put the freezer so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Androulla

the general fire brigade rule is if they dont know what caused the fire, it must be an electrical fault. You figure it out.
Ir should how ever be noted a fridge or freezer will work harder the higher he ambient tempreture it is in. it also should not be used in a sealed room

Why don't you ring the manufacturer of the freezer & tell them how you intend to install their appliance? Take their guidance on the matter.

just how hot does this cabin get? It been reaching the 40c mark indoors at my place abroad which has a fitted kitchen with fridge freezer intregated with little airflow, the same to most buildings with proper fitted kitchens. There is no problem abroad!

Fridges and freezers are produced at different ratings to cope with hotter and colder conditions. Many normal freezers wont work well in a cold larder for example. Check with the manufacturers about max temps.
