Chimney Breast Vent

Hi all, currently had gas fire removed, gas disconnected.
I'm wanting to board the fire opening to put a stand alone electric stove in.
Can I vent the chimney from the side of the chimney breast rather than have the vent in the opening?

OP,
You can vent openings "from the side of the chimney breast" - but why when the flue above the fireplace is now redundant, & can be left open or boarded and vented.
Prior to work any SS flex flue liner must be removed from the flue - and the flue should be swept .

I was hoping to put a stand alone electric stove in the boarded recess with no vents on show.

I apologise for thinking you were talking about an elec fire - bad me reading.
I think more information is needed:
1. Is this definitely an "electric stove"?
2. Is this chimney breast in the kitchen?
3. Will the elec stove be used for cooking?
4.Is your intention to board three sides and the overhead flue opening?

Sorry on my part also, it's an electric stove heater 2kw, coal effect type and yes, looking to board 3 sides and the top.
Sorry for any confusion.

OK, no hay problema - providing the SS flue & sweeping issues are taken care of then yes ventilate through the c/breast side just above say 100mm the top board level.
