I will be fitting a electric inset fire into the hole in the chimney breast where a gas fire used to be. The chimney is capped at the top with a rain guard type fitting which allows air in but keeps rain out.
The electric fire will be covering the hole in wall so am worried about how to provide ventilation to ensure the chimney breast does not suffer from damp in future.
How is this issue usually resolved when fitting electric fires, I've never seen a air vent near an electric fire in the past?
