Hi, I've recently had a chimney re-pointed and re-flashed because of a damp patch appearing on the interior plaster in our loft conversion. The damp patch on the plaster remained after the initial repair but I suspected this would take some time to dry out so didn't think anything of it. Then the other week we had some more substantial rainfall and the damp patch appears to have gotten bigger.
I contacted the roofing company we'd used, and he agreed the mortar that is used on the rear corner of the chimney shouldn't be there and he'd get it sorted.
Yesterday they came out (while I was at work) and they seem to have just patched it up with black tar, or I've also heard it called black-jack?

What I want to ask is, does this repair look adequate? And if not, can you suggest what it should look like or what would be required to sort it?
I'm positive the original quote said they'd do the back gutter but unfortunately don't have this with me at the moment (at work). And again, unfortunately I don't have any photos before the repair as I foolishly didn't think there'd be any issues. (It's our first house :( )
Should I be able to get the roofer that did the repair back to sort it?

Thanks for any help or advice.

Thanks for that. But my album doesn't show in the drop-down list using any web browser on my computer. I was able to update the post using my phone though.

The "Back Gutter" should be a large one piece lead flashing - google pics.
Your version appears to be composed of Flashband, sand and cement and bitumen "Black Jack". I cant see any cover flashing.
Plus there is debris from previous repairs.

The pointing beds and perps should have been raked or disc'ed out to a depth of say 20mm - 25mm and pointed up in 3:1 S&C.
Your pointing is merely a thin smear of a weak mix.
